The path across funk, began with Blindosbarra more than ten years ago, is forwarded with this new double work accomplished (at least in CD 2) together with Les Gastones.
Recovering this music so fundamental for Afro-American culture, linking blues to hip-hop is obviously contaminated by my own experiences, my “italianity” and by that some of post-punk culture in which I’ve drawn in my home-town Genova.
In fact, I believe that my lyrics are not to be set in the most danceable tradition, rather they might be rock’n’roll lyrics. That’s why the title.
But then again, isn’t rock’n’roll a black music too? This work is constituted by a CD 1 with mostly electronic sounds and samples, including some reloads of tracks already included in Draghirossi & Buchineri, plus several unreleased stuff and the video-clip of ironic “Maschio Numero Uno”.
CD2 is entirely acoustic and it is performed by the band which takes me out live, with Davide Zalaffi on drums, Lucas Bellotti bass, Andrea Alesso guitar and keyboard player Matteo Minchillo, all formerly performing with genouese band Sensasciou.
CD2 also includes 3 videos, one of which “Il Cattivo”, is a highly experimental work of photographer Alberto Terrile and artist Matteo Righetti, projecting each image of the band on any kind of object.
